  • Do I need a fishing license?

    Yes you will. You could have Maryland or Virginia to fish the Potomac River. West Virginia to fish the Shenandoah River, but you should ask the guide whichever you’ll be fishing before purchasing a license.

  • Do I need a fishing rod?

    That’s up to you whether you’re traveling or not. If you have good gear and fish often - sure bring a rod. If you’re traveling from out of town and don’t have a rod we can supply them for you.

  • Do I need fishing tackle?

    No typically the guides are fully equipped with all the spin tackle and fly tackle that you’ll ever need.

  • Will my feet get wet?

    Maybe, maybe not. Play it safe and don’t wear expensive shoes like $500 Nikes or High heels. You’re going on a boat that is a White Water Raft, water comes in and out so wear shoes that you can get wet.

  • What do I wear?

    Dress appropriately, if it calls for rain, bring a rain jacket. If it’s going to be cold bring an extra fleece jacket.

  • Will I need Sunglasses?

    Yes, wearing polarized sunglasses greatly increases your success on the water.

  • Can I keep the fish?

    No, this is a catching and return fishing activity.

  • Can I bring live bait?

    We don’t suggest that. You’ll be far more successful with artificial lures and flies.
